Charlie Kelly makes work that responds to memories, events and emotional sequences. Using an initial digital photographic capture Charlie creates compositions by deconstructing these images into installations, paintings and projections. The concepts respond to site specific iconic memories that have influenced her practice today.
By exploring space, depth and light to trigger the audiences senses the work is viewed in a more responsive state of mind. Making work that both interacts and is transformed by light. By emphasising the luminosity of colour the light and reflection counteract with the composition.
Charlie’s fascination for light and the effect it can have on us drives the geometric fractal compositions and experimentations. Each painting, projection or installation has a presence that far exceeds its physical dimensions.
